The announcement of the Host Venue for The 2015 Solheim Cup will be made on Monday 29th October at 10:00 GMT and will be released exclusively on the Ladies European Tour and The Solheim Cup Europe websites.

Mark Casey, European Solheim Cup Director stated “We are delighted to be announcing the venue for The 2015 Solheim Cup on Monday 29th October following a very competitive tender process which involved a number of strong bids from throughout Europe.”

After a highly successful staging in 2011 at Killeen Castle in Ireland, The 2013 Solheim Cup travels to Colorado Golf Club, Parker, Colorado, August 13th – 18th 2013.

The Solheim Cup has been held six times on European soil, debuting in Dalmohoy in Scotland in 1992 where Europe first tasted victory. There have been subsequent events in Wales and back to Scotland before it first travelled outside Great Britain to Barseback Golf and Country Club in Sweden in 2003. Such was the appetite for the event in the country, it returned in 2007 to Halmstad, Sweden.

Inspired by their golfing legends Liselotte Neumann and Annika Sorenstam, attendance soared to over 100,000 in both stagings in Sweden, and its players have continued to influence the bi-annual tournament ever since - when Liselotte leads out her girls in 2013 she will be flanked by a Swedish duo in her Vice-Captains Annika Sorenstam and Carin Koch.

Taking the event to Ireland in 2011, with its knowledgeable fans and rich golfing tradition, set-up what is now thought of as the greatest match in Solheim History, with Europe gallantly fighting back on singles Sunday to seize the trophy at Killeen Castle, making sure it wasn’t just Irish eyes that were smiling but those all over Europe.

So where to next? With golf moving into newer and more diverse European destinations year on year, the growth opportunities to take The Solheim Cup to new fans in new regions is immense.

Stay tuned...
