The new season and year of The Solheim Cup brings with it the opportunity for major points changes and shake-ups in the current Solheim Cup rankings.

The first event on the LET Calendar in 2013 is the Volvik RACV Ladies Masters in RACV Royal Pines Resort, Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia and the winner will take away with her 40 points, compared to the 20 on offer last year when the event was won by Christel Boeljon. A successful defence of her title will give her points total a huge boost.

Players who struggled to get their points on the board in 2012 have every opportunity to climb the rankings this season as top ten results are rewarded with increased points.

Any event with a prize fund of €750,000 or greater (excluding Major Championships) will award it’s winner 60 points. The eligible event in this category is the ISPS Handa Women’s Australian Open.

In Major championships the top 20 players will be gain points as opposed to the top 10 in standard events, within 80 points for the winner. The following Ranking Events are designated as Major Championships:

- Women’s British Open
- Evian Championship
- US Women’s Open
- Kraft Nabisco Championship
- LPGA Championship

European players who are based in the US will be mindful to ensure they play in six Ranking Events during the Qualifying Period as a member of the Ladies European Tour, unless selected as a Captain’s pick. The US Open, Kraft Nabisco and LPGA Championship do not count as ranking events, while the Evian Championship falls after the qualification period for 2013.
