Team Europe held a slim one point lead over the United States after the opening Solheim Cup foursomes at Des Moines Golf and Country Club in Iowa after a tense morning when three of the four matches went to the 18th hole.

The 15th Edition of The Solheim Cup, the biggest event in women’s golf, will take place at Des Moines Golf & Country Club in Iowa.

DES MOINES, Iowa (August 17, 2017) – Melissa Reid and Charley Hull will lead out Team Europe in the opening foursomes match at Des Moines Golf & Country Club in West Des Moines, Iowa, on Friday morning as Europe begins its quest for a sixth victory in The Solheim Cup.

There are four Solheim Cup rookies on the European team in 2017: Madelene Sagstrom, Emily Kristine Pedersen, Georgia Hall and Florentyna Parker, who will look to help Europe recapture The Solheim Cup on American soil.

The United States team won the PING Junior Solheim Cup, 14.5-9.5, for a fifth consecutive victory in the biennial event’s history.

World Golf Halls of Fame member Annika Sorenstam will attempt to reclaim the Solheim Cup for Team Europe this week serving in her first stint as Team Captain.
